Default Assessment Criteria by Exam Board and CEFR Level
Each exam board and CEFR level has unique criteria to ensure writing assessments are fully aligned with the expected language level.
Here’s a brief overview:
- Cambridge (B2, C1, C2): Focuses on Content, Communicative achievement, Organisation, and Language use.
- IELTS Academic: Emphasises on Task achievement, Coherence & cohesion, Lexical resource, Grammatical range & accuracy
- LanguageCert ESOL: Focuses on Task fulfilment, Accuracy and range of grammar, Accuracy and range of vocabulary, and Organisation (coherence).
- Michigan (ECCE, ECPE): Prioritises on Content and development, Organization and connection of ideas, Linguistic range and control, Communicative effect.
